Beginning with Grazia Deledda in Italy, she chronicles the journey that these writers have taken towards recognition, their different writing genres, and how the writings have evolved with social changes.ĭr. Romano turns her attention to Italian American Women Writers. Her last publication, Distant But Loyal: Cranston’s Italian Americans traced the emigration of her paisani out of a little town called Itri in Italy, to the city of Cranston in Rhode Island. Her earlier published books are based on her experiences with various social service agencies based in New York City As the result of her volunteer work with Italian organizations, she has directed her energies towards researching, collecting, preserving and popularizing materials that illuminate American Italian life. Professor Romano, has published books and articles on Psychological/Sociological/Criminological issues including spouse and child abuse patterns, terrorism, drug-related homicide, and international crime patterns. She is active in literary and historical associations and has served as President of the American Italian Historical Association, Long Island Regional Chapter. ![]() Romano, Ph.D., a graduate of Columbia and Fordham universities, is a renowned author and Professor of Sociology.
